About the Survey

Statin therapy is an effective treatment for dyslipidaemias and can reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in both primary and secondary prevention settings. In clinical practice, dyslipidaemias is often identified based on risk factors such as age, BMI, hypertension, diabetes, family history of ASCVD, smoking, and CKD.

Lipid profile testing is recommended for patients with associated cardiovascular risk factors or before initiating statin therapy. The frequency of lipid profile testing varies depending on the patient's individual needs and response to therapy. However, in general, annual testing is recommended.

LDL-C targets may be set for high-risk patients, and the intensity of statin therapy may be determined based on baseline lipid levels and the patient's risk profile.

The questionnaire will provide insights into the effectiveness of statins alone in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events, as well as their combination with other non-statins. The survey report covers the opinions of the clinical practitioners and gives a summary of the important outcomes gathered from the survey. This can help in improving the current management for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with CV risk factors.

Survey objectives:

1. To gather information on the clinical implications of statin therapy in primary prevention for patients with cardiovascular (CV) risk factors

2. To explore the role of statins alone and in combination with non-statins.
